Today is our fifth day of learning English. Before we move on to the fifth day's lesson, it's essential that we review the English we learned on the first, second, third, and fourth days. So, before proceeding, please review what you learned on the second and third days.

आज हमारा अंग्रेजी सीखने का पांचवा दिन है पांचवें दिन की सीढ़ी चढ़ने से पहले हमें पुराने पहले, दूसरे, तीसरे तथा चौथे दिन अंग्रेजी का अभ्यास करना आवश्यक है इसलिए आगे बढ़ने से पहले दूसरे तथा तीसरे दिन क्या अंग्रेजी सीखी है उसे जरूर देखें-

Today we will learn about silent letters. We will learn how to read, but it's also essential to know which letters are silent in which words so that we can correctly pronounce them. Therefore, understanding silent letters is crucial. In this article, we will discuss all types of letters that are silent.

आज हम साइलेंट अक्षरों के बारे में पढ़ेंगे हमें पढ़ना तो आ जाएगा परंतु हमें यह भी जानना आवश्यक है कि कौन से शब्द में कौन सा अक्षर साइलेंट होता है तभी हम अक्षरों को पहचान पाएंगे इसलिए हमें साइलेंट अक्षरों को जानना आवश्यक है इस आर्टिकल में हम सभी प्रकार के अक्षरों को बताएंगे जो साइलेंट होते हैं-

Silent Letters
(अनुच्चारित अक्षर)

Definition

When a letter in an English word is written but not pronounced, it is called a silent letter.

जब किसी अंग्रेजी शब्द में कोई अक्षर लिखा तो जाता है लेकिन बोला नहीं जाता है तो उसे साइलेंट लेटर कहते हैं।

Example:

Write – राइट
(W) नहीं बोला जाता है।

The first letter of many words is silent.
कई शब्दों का पहला अक्षर साइलेंट होता है

Examples:

1. Knife – नाइफ (K – Silent)
2. Honest – ऑनेस्ट ( H – Silent)
3. Know – नो ( K – Silent)
4. Gnat – नेट ( G – Silent)
5. Pslam - साम ( P – Silent)
6. Hour - आवर ( H – Silent)
7. Pneumonia - न्यूमोनिया ( P – Silent)
8. Psychology - साइकॉलॉजी ( P – Silent)
9. Knowledge - नॉलेज ( K – Silent)

As you may have noticed, the first letter of some words is silent, as shown in the table we provided. Similarly, we will now look at words where a silent letter is hidden. Identifying silent letters is crucial so that we don't make mistakes in pronunciation.
जैसा कि आपने देखा होगा कि शब्दों का पहला अक्षर साइलेंट होता है जो हमने उपयुक्त टेबल द्वारा बताया गया है इसी प्रकार अब हम अक्षरों को देखेंगे वर्ड में साइलेंट अक्षर छुपा हुआ रहता है साइलेंट अक्षर को पहचान अत्यंत आवश्यक है तभी हम उच्चारण करने में गलती नहीं करेंगे ।

• Gh वाले शब्द -

The letter 'gh' is not pronounced in many words. Let's understand this with the example given below.

Examples:

1. Night - नाइट
2. Light - लाइट
3. Thought - थॉट
4. Weight - वेट
5. Daughter – डॉटर

In the above sentence, the letter 'gh' is silent.

(Please note - GH that sometimes it makes a sound like a Laugh and other times it becomes completely silent.)

• B Silent वाले शब्द

Examples:

1. Lamb - लैम
2. Bomb – बॉम
3. Climb – क्लाइम
4. Thumb - थम

You may have noticed that in the examples above, the 'b' is silent even after 'm'.

• C Silent वाले शब्द

Examples:

1. Science - सायंस
2. Scene - सीन
3. Muscle - मसल
4. Fascinate – फैसिनेट

• G Silent वाले शब्द

Examples:

1. Gnome - नोम
2. Gnew - नॉ
3. Sign - साइन
4. Design – डिजाइन

• H Silent वाले शब्द

Examples:

1. Hour - आवर
2. Heir - एयर
3. Honest - ऑनेस्ट
4. Honour – ऑनर

In the examples given above, the letter 'h' is written but not pronounced.

• K Silent वाले शब्द

Examples:

1. Knee - नी
2. Knock - नॉक
3. Knot - नॉट
4. Knit – निट

• L Silent वाले शब्द

Examples:

1. Half - हाफ
2. Calm - काम
3. Walk - वॉक
4. Talk - टॉक
5. Folk - फोक

• T Silent वाले शब्द

Examples:

1. Listen - लिसन
2. Often - ऑफन
3. Castle - कासल
4. Whistle – विसल

• W Silent वाले शब्द

Examples:

1. Write - राइट
2. Wrong - रॉन्ग
3. Wrap - रैप
4. Answer – आंसर

• N Silent वाले शब्द

Examples:

1. Hymn - हिम
2. Column - कालम
3. Damn - डैम
4. Condemn - कंडेम
5. Autumn – ऑटम

• U Silent वाले शब्द

Examples:

1. Guard – गार्ड
2. Guess - गेस
3. Guest – गेस्ट

All of these letters are silent. The wards where they are silent have been indicated. Read all of these letters carefully; only then will you be able to pronounce them correctly. Otherwise, you will make pronunciation mistakes, which will lead to an unclear translation. यह सभी अक्षर साइलेंट होते हैं जिस जिस वर्ड में साइलेंट होते हैं वहां आपको बता दिया गया है इन सभी वर्णों को ध्यान से पढ़िए तभी आपको उच्चारण करने में सहायता प्राप्त होगी नहीं तो उच्चारण में गलती होगी जिससे कि अनुवाद स्पष्ट रूप से नहीं हो पता है-
